Stargate Atlantis is many ways a clear cut science fiction drama inspired by the tradition of Babylon 5, Deep Space 9 etc and obviously of Stargate SG-1. The unstoppable alien threat and the undaunted spirit of the team Atlantis is in sharp contrast with each other. The contrast of situation and mentality has intensified the tension and thrill of the television show.
