Fringe is a popular US science fiction based television series. It was created by a collaborated effort of J. J. Abrams, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The series is based on a FBI Fringe Division team under the direct command of Homeland Security located at Boston in Massachusetts. This FBI team uses several unconventional fringe science and FBI analytical techniques in order to explore the Pattern which is a series of mysterious and often horrifying incidents taking place across the world. This particular TV series is described best as a cross between other TV shows such as Altered States, The X-Files, Dark Angel and The Twilight Zone. The TV series was first shown in the year 2008 on the Fox network. It is a part of the Fox’s new initiative called Remote-Free TV, in which the episodes of series are longer in duration than other standard dramas series on TV.

Fringe plot

The plot of Fringe revolved around the strange and unexplained phenomenon called the Pattern occurring across the globe. The 3 lead characters are in charge of the Fringe division and the carrying out different types of investigation on such strange phenomenon with the help of fringe science. Massive Dynamic a top notch technology company is also connected to the Pattern. Their common enemy is a bio-terrorist wing called the ZFT which is the orchestrating a destructive technological singularity with the help of such strange occurrence.

Fringe Characters

Olivia Dunham played by Anna Torv is a special agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) who is in-charge of investigation for all kinds of unexplained phenomena happening in and around. She is also one of the central characters in the show. Peter Bishop dubbed as jack of all trades is recruited by Olivia is played by Joshua Jackson. Dr. Walter Bishop played by John Noble is the former government examiner for fringe science and Peter’s father. Kirk Acevedo plays the role of Charlie Francis who is second-in-command of the Fringe Division and a close friend of Olivia. Astrid Farnsworth played by Jasika Nicole is a young federal agent who is also assists Olivia and Walter. Phillip Broyles, the Homeland Security agent who runs this Fringe Division. Nina Sharp is played by Blair Brown who is the COE of Massive Dynamic which is the leading firm for research on science and technology. William Bell played by Leonard Nimoy, the founder and chairman of Massive Dynamic and former lab partner to Walter.

Fringe update

It is said that the pilot episode may have been leaked by the Bit Torrent around 3 months prior to the premiere similar to the other leaked FOX series called Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

A reality game was centered on the fictional Massive Dynamic corporation and it was commenced during the launch of the pilot and it featured strange symbols with glowing spots. On August 2008, a prequel comic book of the TV series was released by DC Comics written by Zack Whedon. This was first issue of the month-wise 6 limited issues of the series. The rest of the series was delayed until 2009 January.
